How to get your art ready for hanging

We’re so excited to showcase your work! To help everything go smoothly, here’s a quick guide to make sure your art is ready to hang at the show.

What You’ll Need:

  • D-Rings or Screw Eyes (for hanging)

  • Hanging wire

  • A small screwdriver (if you are using D-Rings)

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

Using Screw Eyes

  1. Use the ruler to find where you want the hooks to go on the back of the frame. Mark these spots with a pencil. A good spot is about 1/3 of the way down from the top.

  2. Twist the eye hooks into the marked spots.

  3. Add the Wire (if your frame doesn’t already have wire, thread it through the eye hooks and make sure it’s tight but has a bit of slack.)

  4. Make sure the wire is secure and the eye hooks are tightly in place.

Using D-Rings

  1. Use the ruler to find where you want the D-hooks on the back of the frame. Mark these spots with a pencil. A good spot is about 1/3 of the way down from the top.

  2. Line up the D-hooks with your marks and screw them into the frame. Use a screwdriver to make sure they are firmly attached.

  3. Add the Wire (if the D-hooks don’t have wire already, thread a piece of wire through them, making sure it’s tight but not too tight.)

  4. Make sure the wire is secure and the D-hooks are firmly attached.

For Art on Paper (Drawings, Prints, etc.)

  • All paper artwork needs to be framed so it can hang on the wall.

  • Make sure the frame is sturdy and comes with hanging hooks (like D-Rings or Screw Eyes).

For Canvases

Canvases don’t need a frame, but you do need to attach D-Rings or Screw Eyes to the wooden part on the back so they can hang.

Heavy Pieces

If your artwork is heavy, we recommend bringing your own easel. That way, it’s safe and looks great without risking damage.
